The Resource & Alumni Affairs of the Institute are looked after by the Dean (Resource & Alumni). It coordinates alumni process and works out resource generation activities of the Institute.
Key Objectives of the office of the Dean (Resource and Alumni):
•Keeping all the alumni updated with their alma matters through Alumni Newsletters and posting the information on website and social media platform on regular basis.
•Honoring the alumni through Distinguished alumnus awards (DAA) and facilitating them at various occasions.In 2021-22, total of 09 alumni and in the yaer 2022-23 total of 07 alumni were awarded the DAA in different domains like Public life, Research and innovation, Academics, and Industry, Distingusihed Services to the Institute and Young Alumnus Achiever Award.
•Helping to organizing regular meetings/ reunions etc.
•Engaging the alumni for overall development of the Institute fraternity through intellectual talks, seminars, workshops, online classes etc.
•Interacting with alumni groups for:
--Creation of Scholarships, endowment funds, angel funds etc.
--Creation of Alumni funded Institute Chair Positions in various Depts./Schools/Centers.
--Exploring the possibility for minor/ major donations for Infrastructural development, development of centers, schools, facility etc.

Alumni Connect:
•Institute played a major role under the guidance of Honorable Chairman, BoG in establishing the centralized alumni association with its office in Institute in the year 2021 which is fully functional. Institute is making all its efforts to remain connected with its alumni through Alumni Association, Alumni Chapters and SAIC. SAIC and Alumni Association is playing a major role in alumni connect.
•Alumni Newsletter is published every month since January’2021 and communicated through group email Ids, Institute Social media accounts like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp group to all alumni in contact.
Alumni Registration Portal:
1.Continuous efforts are being made by the Institute, SAIC as well as Alumni Association for registering the alumni on Registration portal.
2.Emails to all the alumni are sent regularly and information is also published in newsletter every month, on social media on regular basis requesting alumni for registration on alumni portal.
3.Membership drive is also run by the alumni association.
4.Total Registrations on portal till date: 15000+ till Sept’ 2022.
Schemes avaialble for Support by the Alumni:
•Alumni Visiting/Adjunct Faculty Scheme:
Alumni are engaged for teaching various industry oriented courses to the students. Currently around 10 Alumni are teaching various courses in current semester.
Recent call for inviting EoI for visiting/adjunct faculty from alumni was also floated and 30+ additional alumni working abroad and in India have been offered the position of Visiting/Adjunct Faculty.
•Faculty Chair Positions
Efforts are being made for establishing the faculty chair positions in various depts by the alumni support. One such Chair position is being established by the contribution of Sh. Jay Chaudhry, USA.
•Infrastructure Support
Donations and gift policies for new infrastructure, lab, facility development and modernization of existing facilities.
•Research Fellowships, Research Excellence awards to faculty and students.
•Endowment Scholarships, Awards, Medals and Fellowships.
•Establishment of Centre of Excellence in Chosen Area
•Any other support as per wish of Alumni.
CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS (2019)
The Benares Engineering College (BENCO) was established in the year 1919, and hence IIT (BHU) celebrated the Centenary Celebration on Basant Panchami Day in 2019. IIT (BHU) launched the Centenary Logo, Backdrop (for functions, academic meet etc) along with Centenary Initiatives of the department/schools etc on February 22nd, 2018, in Swatantrata Bhawan during the Golden Jubilee Alumni Reunion of BENCO Graduates of 1968. The institute observeD the Centenary Celebrations from the Basant Panchami Day in 2019 up to the Closing Function of Centenary on Basant Panchami Day in 2020.

BHU Centennial Celebrations!
In year 2019, our Alma Mater - BHU - is celebrating 100 years of contribution to education in India. To launch the celebrations, the IIT-BHU Global Alumni Association hosted a Global Meet at the Santa Clara Convention Center, CA on the 17th of September 2016. An event of this importance received whole-hearted support and participation from alumni.
