  IIT (BHU) will have its centenary celebration on Basant Panchami Day in February 2019. It should be noted that the first of the constituents of the institute, BENCO was established in 1919 and later the colleges of Mining- Metallurgy and Technology were also brought in apart from the Department of Pharmacy. The institute is coming forth with its centenary initiatives that we will crystallize as our priorities of engagements during the centenary celebration period, and beyond. Various departments and units of the institute have identified their initiatives and a possible roadmap for the same. These centenary initiatives have been unveiled in the launch function of Centenary Initiatives on February 22 nd at 15:00 hrs (03:00 pm) in Swatantrata Bhawan, followed by a cultural function in the evening.
  This launch function of the centenary has taken place in the presence of Alumni of the Ǯ68 batchǯ who had assembled here for their Golden Jubilee Reunion from February 21st to 25th 2018 in the institute.
  The centenary celebration period has started here from, the main celebration function will take place on Basant Panchami Day in 2019 and Grand closing ceremony will be there on the Basant Panchami Day in 2020. Students, Teachers and Alumni families will participate in all these function.

• Sad demise of our alumnus Atul Rai, 1993 Graduate, left for his heavenly abode at Singapore on Monday night (28th August 2017). He passed away in sleep. He was working for IBM.
