Authors Workshop on July 21, 2021
- Topic: "How to Publish in Books" and "How to Publish in Academic Journals and Succeed with your Publication"
- The Main Library, in association with the Department of Humanistic Studies and Taylor & Francis Group, had Jointly organized Author Workshop on “How to Publish in Books” and “How to Publish in Academic Journals and Succeed with your Publication” on the 21st of July 2021, through an online platform (GotoWebinar tool). More than 200 research scholars and faculty members attended the online workshop in both sessions. The session first covered a glimpse into different processes involved in writing a book with a global publisher, including formulating book proposals, timelines, copyrights, royalties, and other essential factors by the speaker Mr Aakash Chakrabarty, Senior Commissioning Editor Politics & International Relations. The second session covered confidence to publish papers in academic journals, promote research outcomes through clearer written messages, reduce ambiguity and rejections, and increase the publication rate by Ms Victoria Babbit, Director of Research Development and Outreach. The participants actively participated, and for more than 40 minutes, the resource person cleared doubts regarding publishing ethics, plagiarism, peer-review process. The Deputy Librarian, Dr Navin Upadhyay, Moderated the session, and the Assistant Librarian, Mr Kanu Chakraborty, managed the workshop.

SciFinder-n webinar series during 15-June to 9-July, 2021
- Topic: "SciFinder-n Training (Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS))"
- The Main Library, in association with ACS, organized a "SciFinder-n Training - webinar series from 15-June to 9-July, 2021 through an online platform. More than 100 research scholars and faculty members attended the online webinar series. In this series the expert has discussed how to improve scholars effectiveness in locating pertinent information, allowing to save time, be more creative, and increase confidence in decision-making, etc. The Deputy Librarian, Dr Navin Upadhyay, and the Assistant Librarian, Mr Kanu Chakraborty, managed the workshop.

ACS India Webinar on July 14, 2021
- Topic: "Making the Most Out of Your PhD. Journey: Research, Skills, and The Great Beyond"
- The Main Library, in association with ACS, organized "Making the most out of your PhD Journey: Research, Skills, and The Great Beyond" a webinar on July 14, 2021, Through an online platform. More than 160 research scholars and faculty members attended these sessions. The session covered selecting a research advisor, putting together the first publication or defending a dissertation, it is essential to examine ways to tune PhD journey to align with scholars specific interests and career aspirations by the speaker Professor Sarbajit Banerjee of Texas A&M University and Senior Editor of ACS Omega. Also, he discusses his thoughts about how to evaluate your fit with a specific program or research group, resources for professional development, and career pathways in the chemical sciences. The webinar is moderated by Dr Deeksha Gupta of the American Chemical Society, Associate Director-India, Editorial, Society Programs & Services. Patent Knowledge Workshop on June 26, 2021
- Topic: "Innovation generation through utilizing patent knowledge"
- The Main Library, in association with R&D, IIT (BHU), Varanasi and Clarivate, had jointly organized “Innovation generation through utilizing patent knowledge (demonstration using the "Derwent Innovation Database")”, online workshop on June 21, 2021, Through Microsoft Teams Meeting platform. In this session, the expert demonstrates about Derwent database, the advantages of the database, how to use and search the patent on it? Also, he discusses details of the procedure of file a patent etc. More than 40 faculty members attended these sessions. - The Main Library, in association with the Clarivate, had jointly organized “EndNote Training & Certification Program 2021”, from April 5 to April 9, 2021, through an online platform. In this session, the expert demonstrates about EndNote platform, the advantages of the platform, how to use it and installation process of the Desktop version, etc. More than 150 Research scholars & faculty members attended these sessions. Objectives of this station was Understanding the publishing workflow, tips, and tricks of writing a research article, Choosing the correct Journal, etc. Provide an introduction of Scopus, ScienceDirect and Mendeley to students/early career researchers so that they get maximum benefit in their research.

The Main Library IIT(BHU), Varanasi in association with Clarivate Analytics, organized the “Workshop on InCites, Web of Science and EndNote” on Tuesday, 14th May 2019, at ABLT Hall, IIT (BHU). A technical resource person from the Clarivate Analytics conducted the session. The workshop was very fruitful for research scholars and they interacted and raise their issues with the resource person. More than 100 participants (Research Scholar and Faculty) attended the Workshop.

- The Library on 12th August 2018 celebrated Librarian's day with the library staff. 12th August celebrated as Librarian’s Day in India, in remembrance of national professor of library science, Dr. S R Ranganathan birthday 12th August 1892. The Deputy Librarian and Assistant Librarian highlighted the contributions of Dr. Ranganathan towards the development of the library profession in India.
