Presently,  Dr. Sanjay Kumar is working as an Assistant Professor at School of Biochemical Engineering, IIT (BHU), Varanasi (Oct 2016 onwards). He did his B. Tech. (1995-1999) in Biochemical Engineering from Department of Biochemical Engineering and Food Technology, HBTI Kanpur (now HBTU Kanpur). He has four years of Industrial Experience (1999-2003) in the area of breweries and yeast cultivation. Later, he did his M. Tech. (2003-2005) in Biochemical Engineering from School of Biochemical Engineering, IT-BHU Varanasi (now IIT(BHU) Varanasi). He has completed his Ph.D. (Jan 2006 - Jan 2011) in the area of “therapeutic enzyme bioprocess development” from Biochemical Engineering Laboratory, Department of Biotechnology (now Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering), IIT Guwahati. He has postdoctoral experience (Oct 2010 – Sept 2012) from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Windsor and Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, University of Western Ontario, Canada in the area of “bioenergy bioprocess development”. After his post-doctoral experience, he has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, MNNIT Allahabad (Nov 2012 – Oct 2016).
