Message from Head, Department of Electrical Engineering:

Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering of IIT (BHU) Varanasi.

Our department was established in the year 1949 to provide high quality technical education and is one of the oldest in the country. The department is distinguished by its highly collaborative culture as well as its core strength in advanced studies of electrical machines, power systems, control systems, power electronics and systems engineering. The department has remained at the forefront, educating and training the next generation of engineers while driving innovative research and thinking. The department has been consistently ranked among the top departments, which produces quality research both in terms of quality and quantity. We have a legacy of producing research and students having a deep impact, and our faculty continue to work on the cutting edge technology. The department has grown leaps and bounds since its inception and our team of distinguished professors and staffs continue to challenge the status-quo and our enthusiastic team of graduate, post-graduate and doctoral students continue to make rapid strides in all spheres of education, corporate and research work.
Our department plans to further improve the quality of research and make a difference at the global level. We constantly look for highly motivated and curious minds who are willing to test the boundaries and are passionate about research.
