Specialization : Rock Mechanics

Rock mechanics is a theoretical and applied science of the mechanical behavior of rock and rock masses; compared to geology, it is that branch of mechanics concerned with the response of rock and rock masses to the force fields of their physical environment. It concerns the behavior of rock when such rock is subjected to forces that are either natural or those applied to the rock by engineers when they build their structures or other applications that use the qualities of the rock for their own purposes.
