BIOPHYSICS AND NANOTECHNOLOGY LABORATORY (BNL)

BNL is situated in the department of Physics, IIT (BHU), Varanasi headed by Dr. Avanish Parmar. An interdisciplinary group working in the area of nanoscience and nanotechnology with major emphasis on health, energy, and environmental application. The main focus of the group is to understand the physical interaction between biomolecules and nanomaterials like Quantum dots, 2D- materials to synthesize functional hybrid materials for various application related to health care (biosensors, medical diagnostic devices) , energy (Photovolatic solar cells, OLED), and environment (gas sensors, toxic metal detection). Our primary goal is to give inexpensive technology to the society.

  • Convener and organizer of “International Conference on Functional Nanomaterials” (ICFNM 2019) at IIT(BHU) during Feb. 22-25, 2019 where more than 200 participants presented their work which included eminent researchers and academicians working in diverse fields of materials science including bionanomaterials, 2D-materials, etc .
  • Convener and organizer of an International conference “International Conference on Advances in Biological Systems and Materials Science in NanoWorld” (ABSMSNW 2017) at IIT(BHU) from Feb. 19-23, 2017 where more than 300 participants presented their work including many international and national speakers.
  • Convener and organizer of International Conference on SMART MATERIALS FOR SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY (SMST-2020) at Bogmallo Beach Resort Goa from 22nd-25th February 2020. The theme for the conference is Fundamental to Applications for Healthcare and Energy http://smst2020.org/

Society formed: SIRMB (registered on 23.08.2017)

  • Formed a national society (founder and current president of society) for the promotion of interdisciplinary research in India- Society for Interdisciplinary Research in Materials and Biology (SIRMB) officially registered on 23-08-2017.
  •  This society aims to provide a common platform for fostering collaboration and easy sharing of knowledge base among researchers working in various areas of science and engineering that can impact materials of the future. 
  • The Society aims to bring members from varied disciplines such as biology, physics, synthetic chemistry,biophysics, theoretical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, medicine andallied disciplines with a common goal of developing materials that can impact healthcare, defense and the society together to build interdisciplinary expertise.
  • The society will further arrange for students to access the top research labs and get mentored by researchers actively involved in the field.
