Area of Interest:
Statistical Physics, Soft Matter Physics: Modeling self-assembly and phase separation kinetics in the complex soft materials; Ising Model, Tailoring Gel Structure, Controlled Radical Polymerization (CRP), Photo-CRP

Research Area:
The research interests in our group lie broadly in the field of Soft Matter/Statistical Physics. More specifically, we study the dynamical and structural properties of phase ordering in unstable far-from-equilibrium systems. We explore how their behavior is measured and characterized, which involve various phenomena such as nucleation, spinodal decomposition, late-stage growth, and coarsening.
We use a combination of Analytical and Computational/Numerical tools (Coarse-grained field-theoretical models, Monte Carlo (MC), Molecular Dynamics (MD), Dissipative Particle Dynamics (DPD) simulations, and Gel Lattice Spring Model (GLSM)) to explore the current challenging problems in this field, such as:

  1. Computational design of Smart Materials
  2. Phase separation kinetics in multi-component (i) Simple-fluids, (ii) Polymer melt & solution, (iii) Block copolymer melt & solutions
  3. Nanostructure formation in nonequilibrium systems
  4. Computational analysis of self-assembly involving the following polymerization processes: Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), Free radical polymerization (FRP), and Photo controlled radical polymerization (Photo-CRP)
