Dr. Joy Prakash Misra (born on 15th April 1986) is presently working as Assistant Professor (Grade-I) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. Before joining IIT (BHU) Varanasi, he was working as Assistant Professor (Grade-II) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra. He has obtained his Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Kalyani Govt. Engineering College in 2007. Subsequently, he has obtained his Master of Technology and Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2009 and 2014. He has published 01 patent, 01 book, 08 book chapters, 43  research papers in refereed journals, and 47 research papers in proceedings of reputed national and international conferences. Dr. Misra is currently managing one research project sponsored by SERB, New Delhi. He has supervised 04 Ph.D. thesis, 06 M.Tech dissertations, and 05 B.Tech projects. He is presently supervising 06 Ph.D. students. The research interests of Dr. Misra include machining science, advanced manufacturing processes, advanced joining techniques, optimization techniques, etc. He is also a reviewer of several reputed international journals. Dr. Misra has delivered several expert / invited lectures in several repute institutions and chaired technical sessions in prestigious conferences. He has also organized a number of workshops, STCs, and conferences. He is associated with several professional bodies, including Association of Engineers (India), Institution of Engineers, India, DAAAM, Vienna, etc. In 2018, He was awarded the Young Engineer and Young Scientist Award by Institution of Engineers and Venus International Research Foundation.
